H. HOOVER DIES AFTER EIGHT WEEKS' ILLNESS ----- Funeral Services Will Be Conducted at Residence of Mother-in-Law at Noon Today. ----- Aftern an illness of eight weeks, Paul H. Hoover, of 102 Victoria avenue, died yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Mercy hospital. The funeral services will be conducted at noon today at the residence of Mrs. Z. T. Smith, mother of Mrs. Hoover, at 2 Ransom place. Rev. John Long Jackson, rector of St. Martin's Episcopal church, and Dr. A. A. McGeachy, pastor of the Second Presbyterian church, will officiate at the service. The burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Mr. Hoover came to Charlotte about six years ago from Lincolnton, where he was born, and accepted a position with the Ed. Mellon company, remaining with this concern until last year when he became connected with Claude Brown, Inc. He was a man of fine personality and made a large number of friends, aside from possessing marked executive ability and excellent qualities of salesmanship. He was 30 years old, and was the son of the late J. Calvin Hoover and Mrs. Jennie Helm Hoover. Prior to coming to Charlotte most of his life was spent in Lincolnton. Mr. Hoover was a member of the Episcopal church and was a strong believer in the principles and teachings of his denomination. His wife was Miss Willie Smith, daughter of the late Z. T.Smith, at one time sheriff of Mecklenburg county, and Mrs. Smith. Surviving besides his wife and mother, are three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Harry Page and Mrs. James Shuford of Lincolnton; Miss Emma Hoover, of Charlotte; Helm Hoover, of Hickory; and Eric Hoover, of Akron, Ohio.
