King, of Long Creek Township. Mr. George W. King, a prominent citizen of Long Creek township, Mecklenburg county, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at his home. Mr. King had been ploughing and sowing oats all day. About 4 o'clock in the afternoon he came in from the fields, lighted his pipe, and enjoyed a smoke. He was playing with one of his grandchildren, when, rising from his chair, he knocked the ashes from his pipe, placed the pipe on the mantel, and resumed his seat. Almost immediately he gave a gasp and fell over dead. Dr. John R. Irwin, who examined the body, said that the cause of Mr. King's death was heart disease. Mr. King was in his 53d year.
