                    TRIBUTE OF RESPECT
   At a call meeting of the Phalanx Lodge, No. 31, held at the Hall in the 
town of Charlotte, June 11, 1847, the following resolutions were adopted:
   Resolved, That whereas it has pleased the Almighty Disposer of human 
events, in his merciful Providence to remove fromm our midst our well-beloved 
Brother, CAPT. HENRY N. KNOX; we, cherishing a  warm remembrance of his manly 
and social virtues, deeply regret the event that deprives us of his 
companionshhip and our brotherhood of a warm and faithful adherent.
   Resolved, That in the decease of BROTHER KNOX, this Lodge has sustained a 
deep loss; for he has ever identified himself with Masonry from the time he 
was initiated, to the time of his departure, ever manifesting the warmest 
attachment and a stern regard for the preservation of its ancient purity.
   Resolved, That we sincerely and deeply sympathise with the friends and 
relations of the deceased and offer them our tenderest consolation.
   Resolved, That in token of our regard and respect for the deceased BROTHER, 
we wear the usual badge of mourning for 30 days.
   Resolved, That the Secretary of this Lodge have the above published in "The 
Charlotte Journal".
