Oldest Tarheel Dead

Charlotte, N.C. – Henry Parminter, veteran of the Mexican and Civil wars, and 
the state’s oldest citizen lacking but fifteen days of having attained the age 
of 108, died at his home here of grip.  His wife died in 1909 at the age of 
101.  Among his descendants are several great-great grandchildren.  He was 
hale and hearty up to a few days before his death, and retained every sense 
accurately.
