Mr. Walter Potts Dead - He Passed Away Last Night

Mr. Walter Potts died at his home on East Sixth street, last night at 9:30 
o'clock, of consumption. Deceased was a son of Mrs. M.R. Potts, and was about 
26 years of age. He was formerly clerk at the Buford Hotel, but lately was 
with Wright's Hotel at Danville. Two months ago the disease, which resulted in 
death, fastened itself upon Mr. Potts, and his constitution rapidly gave way. 
He bore his suffering patiently, and passed away peacefully.

Death of Mr. Walter Potts

At about 9 o'clock Saturday night, Mr. Walter Potts breathed his last at his 
home on East Sixth street. He had been confined to his room with dreaded 
consumption since last December, when he returned home from Danville, Va., 
where he had been employed as manager of Wright's Hotel. For a good while Mr. 
Potts was night clerk at the Buford Hotel in this city. He was exceedingly 
popular. He was just twenty-three years old, and was a member of the First 
Presbyterian church.

The funeral services were conducted from the residence, No. 213 East Sixth 
street, yesterday evening at 5 o'clock, by Rev. Dr. Preston. The remains were 
taken to Pineville for interment, this morning, followed by a long procession 
of friends. The pall beareres were Messrs. J.K. McCreight, Charlton Younts, 
J.H. Rose, Will Barringer and John Clarke. The interment was in the old family 
burial plot, at Harrison's church.
