Funeral Services of Mrs. Potts Conducted - Was Nearly 87 Years Old and Her 
Mind Was Clear Until the Last.

Cornelius, Sept. 19 - The funeral services of Mrs. Rebecca White Potts, widow 
of the late Thos. E. Potts, were conducted Monday at Bethel church by Rev. 
W.T. Wauchope, pastor of the Bethel church.

Mrs. Potts was possibly the oldest inhabitant of this immediate section since 
she was within two months of her eighty-seventh anniversary, that date being 
November 3. The Observer several years ago had an interesting reference to 
Mrs. Potts and her early girlhood. Among the things about which she spoke to 
the correspondent was her attending as a little girl the first commencement of 
Davidson college, held at that time in August and under a brush harbor.

Mrs. Potts retained her health through a remarkably long period and even to 
the day of her death her mind was clear and active. For an indefinite number 
of years, she has been a faithful member of the church and was universally 
esteemed and loved.
