Mr. J. Walter Potts died yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at his home in Steele Creek Township at the age of 59 years. For some time he had not been well but he had been seriously ill only since last Thursday. Since Friday he had been unconscious. The funeral will be conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church in which he was an elder, by the pastor, Rev. J.W. Orr. Mr. Potts is survived by his wife, who was Miss Lizzie Reid of this county, and nine children, all of whom were with him at his death except two sons, Messrs. Grier and John Potts who are at Deersfield, Fla. The others are Messrs. Claud, Lamar, who travel for the International Harvester Company, Elmore; and Misses Carrie Potts, who teaches at Mount Holly; Ada Potts of Charlotte; Mabel Potts, a trained nurse at the Presbyterian Hospital, and Macie Potts of the home place. Mr. Potts was highly respected and was well known throughout his section of the county. The active pallbearers will be Messrs. W.B. Choate, J.N. Wilson, A.A. Porter, J.B. Watt, John McDowell and J.F. Neely. The honorary pallbearers will be the elders of Steele Creek Church.
