Potts, who has been in the sanatorium at Statesville for the past two weeks, sick with appendicitis and peritonitis, died this morning about 9 o'clock. His illness has been of such a nautre that from the beginning little hope was entertained for his recovery. In his death the town and community loses one of its most substantial and well- to-do citizens. Mr. Potts was the son of the late Captain J.M. Potts, a brother of the late Sheriff Lawson Potts. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Alice Davis, formerly of Yadkin County, and two little children, a son and daughter, about 8 and 6 years old respectively. Mr. Potts is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Rozzelle of Charlotte, and the following brothers and sisters: Mr. W.A. Potts of Davidson; Messrs. Charles, Marvin and Jake Rozzelle of Charlotte; Mrs. Wat Wilson of Caldwell and Mrs. Knebel, now of Chicago. Mr. Potts was a large land owner having in Mecklenburg and Iredell some 600 acres.
