MECKLENBURG COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Dr. Robert Payne, 5 Nov 2004

MOORESVILLE - Dr. Robert Payne, 75, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004. He 
was the son of the late Gordon Jonas Payne and Alene Reames Payne. 
He earned his medical degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. He was a member 
of the Mecklenburg Medical Group in Charlotte until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Payne of the home; a 
daughter, Holly Payne Ellis of Lake Villa, IL; a son, Benjamin Jonas 
Payne of Mooresville; brothers, Gordon Reames Payne of Mount Pleasant, 
SC, and John Charles Payne of Gastonia; a sister, Sara Catherine 
Yarberry of Charlotte; and three grandsons. 

A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Lutheran 
Church. Rev. Lou Bauer officiated. The family received friends from the 
service at the church. A private burial was held. Memorial donations 
may be made to Catawba Lands Conservancy, 105 West Morehead Street, 
Suite B, Charlotte, NC 28202, or the Memorial Foundation of North Carolina, 
Inc., 880 Airport Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
