Dr. Sebrell was a member of the prominent and well-known Southampton family of that name, the son of t he late Mr. and Mrs. James E. Sebrell of Courtland. For a number of years he was a successful practicing physician at Courtland, moving to Norfolk 25 years ago. He removed to Charlotte about ten years ago where he was State agent for a large insurance company. He was 69 years of age and is survived by four brothers, Thos. E. Sebrell of Richmond, R.A. and Jno. N. Sebrell, Jr. of Norfolk and Charles H. Sebrell of Lawrenceville; one sister, Miss Rena Sebrell of Norfolk; a son, J.Emmett Sebrell, Jr. of Charlotte, and a daughter, Mrs. W.J. Woods of Lewiston, Penn., five grandchildren and a large family connection. Mrs. J. Emmett Moyler of this town, who died several years ago, was also a sister of Dr. Sebrell’s. His death was quite sudden and he survived his wife, who before her marriage was Miss Elizabeth Cobb of this county, less than one month, Mrs. Sebrell being buried in Norfolk March 13.
