Charlotte Observer, April 13, 1916
MRS. ORTNEY SING DEAD
BURIAL IN STEELE CREEK

     Mrs. Ortney Sing, wife of Mr. D.F. Sing, was buried Tuesday in Steele 
Creek cemetery, her death having occurred the day previous, at her home in 
Berryhill Township, this county.  Rev. B.F. Fincher had charge of the service, 
the interment being in the family plot.  Mrs. Sing was 70 years of age and is 
survived by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. B.N. Richburg.  The family was 
one of the best known in the county, having been prominent residnets of the Big 
Springs community for a half century.
