Charlotte News, October 17, 1890
Death of Mr. Steward.-Mr. William S. Steward, owner of Steward's mill, near the 
city, died at 5:15 o'clock this morning, after a long and painful illness. Mr. 
Steward was one of the prominent men of Mecklenburg, and his death is a loss to 
the county. He leaves a large family. His body will be buried in Elmwood 
cemetery at 2 o'clock to-morrow afternoon.
