H. D. STOWE DEAD Respected Lady of Charlotte Died at Ripe Old Age This Morning. Within the half-hour after midnight last night, Mrs. H. D. Stowe died at her home, 308 West Eleventh street. She was in her eightieth year and died after an illness of several months, through a complication of apoplexy and with the natureal feebleness of age. The arrangements for the funeral had not been made early this morning, on account of the fact that relatives in texas, Alabama, Atlanta and Tennessee are expected to attend. The funeral may be delayed until as late as Thursday. Mrs. Stowe was a woman of energetic nature until the weight of years piled their handicap upon her shoulders. She was the daughter of the late Larkin Stowe of Gaston County, marrying her own maiden name by unique coincidence. The late Capt. H. D. Stowe, her husband, has been dead for a number of years. The deceased lived with her daughter, Miss Lizzie Stowe. The only other child born to her was Mr. Samuel T. Stowe, Mecklenburg County engineer. Mrs. Stowe was formerly a member of the old Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, and she will be buried in the graveyard of that church. Although of a small immediate family, the deceased had many relatives in both Mecklenburg and Gaston Counties. She was an aunt of Mr. Charles P. Moody and Mrs. Ferrie Chapman of Charlotte, a sister of Col. Jasper Stowe and Col. W. I. Stowe of Gaston, and a relative of Mr. W. W. Ward and Mr. M. P. Pegram, Sr., of Charlotte. Mrs. Stowe lived many of her last years in this city and had formed a wide circle of friends in the section of the city around the Tenth Avenue Presbyterian church, where her active Chruch relations existed. She was well beloved and highly respected by her acquaintances.
