Stroud of Franklin, died at her home in Portsmouth Sunday, April 29, in the 80th year of her life. She is survived by two children, Lee H. Stroud of Portsmouth, with whom she had made her home for the past 15 years, a daughter, Mrs. Stanley Crawford of Pittsburg, Penn., and a grandson, Lee H. Stroud, 2nd, of Portsmouth. She was a member of High Street Methodist Church, Franklin. Funeral services were held from the Snellings Funeral Home in Portsmouth and burial was made in the family plot in Oak Grove Cemetery, that city. Mrs. Stroud, who was a woman of many fine traits of character, and who numbered a host of friends, made her home in this town for about 50 years. Her husband, W.H. Stroud, a highly honorable and exemplary citizen, was Editor and Owner of the “Southampton Democrat” of this town from August 1886, until April 1927, when ill health made his discontinue its publication, Mr. Stroud dying here August 19, 1930.
