[1] Mrs. Vinson was active in church Services for Mrs. Frances Mar- tin Vinson, 72, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Myers Park United Methodist Church. Entombment will be in the Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Vinson of 2633 Richardson Drive died Tuesday at home. Mrs. Vinson was a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 10 years, was a circle leader and served on both the ad- ministrative board and the educa- tion commission. Mrs. Vinson also was a trustee and served as president of the Ruth Fisher Sunday school class. She served on the board of United Methodist women and was a for- mer board member of the YWCA and the Charlotte Day Nursery. Mrs. Vinson was a member of the Mint Museum Auxilliary, was active in the Home and Garden Tours and Antique Shows of the Mint and was former treasurer and first vice president of the Charity League, serving on its board for seven years. She was the widow of Edward Vinson, a leading Charlotte real estate agent and former president of the Downtown Charlotte Asso- ciation. Surviving are a son, Edward L., Jr., of Charlotte; a sister, Julia Parsons of Winston-Salem; and two grandchildren. Memorials may be made to My- eas Park United Methodist Church, P.O. [2] {handwritten} June 28, 1983 Museum Activist Frances Martin Vinson Dies By Jeff Hiday Observer Staff Writer Frances Martin Vinson, a Sun- day School teacher at My- ers Park United Methodist Church for 10 years, died Tuesday at her home. She was 72. Vinson, of 2633 Rich- ardson Dr., was the widow of Edward Vinson, a prominent Charlotte real estate agent and former president of the Downtown Charlotte Association. Mrs. Vinson, who was born and reared in Charlotte, had been a member of Myers Park Methodist since her marriage in 1933. There she served on the administrative board and the education commis- sion and as president of the Ruth Fisher Sunday School Class. "She was very, very involved with her church," Vinson's niece, Judy Hardy of Winston-Salem, said Tuesday night. "She was a warm person, a giving person- the kind that had a lot but always gave much more. "She was type person that al- ways had time for you," Hardy said. Mrs. Vinson was an active member of the Mint Museum Auxillary. In 1971 she and an- other woman donated a large, signed oil painting to the Mint's growing collection of work by the late N.C. artist Elliott Dainger- field. She was also active in the Mint's home and garden tours and antiqu shows. She was former treasurer and first vice president of the Charity League and served on its board for seven years. Surviving are son, Edward L. Vinson, Jr.; sister Mrs. Julia Par- sons of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren. Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at Myers Park United Methodist Church.
