Dec. 8, 1842    Charlotte Journal
   DIED, at his residence, Hopewell, Mecklenburg, the REV. J. WILLIAMSON, 
pastor of said congregation. The REV. J. WILLIAMSON came to Hopewell 1st 
January 1818, was installed paston May, 1819. He was a delegate to the 
assembly of 1837, distinguished at the crisis in the Presbyterian Church and 
was even one of the firmest defenders of the confession of faith. The disease 
which terminated his life was congestive fever. He was President of the Board 
of Trustees of Davidson College, and in his death the institution has one one 
of its most earnest, warmest and most sagacious friends.
