WOFFORD DIES ON VISIT TO FRIEND'S HOME Died During Saturday Night; Appeared in Usual Health When Retired. Mrs. Sarah D. Wofford, wife of the late W. W. Wofford, died suddenly at the home of Mrs. Howell, in the county, yesterday morning about 2 o'clock. The cause of her death is unknown. Mrs. Wofford was visiting Mrs. Howell and appeared to be in good health when she retired for the night. Her body was removed yesterday morning to the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Alexander, at No. 1706 South Tryon street. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alexander, Rev. E. F. Griffith, pastor of Chalmers Memorial meeting house, officiating. Burial will be at the Matthews cemetery, about twelve miles from the city. Mrs. Wofford is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Alexander, and two sons, James Wofford, of Sanford, and Cad Wofford. She is also survived by two sisters, mrs. Jane Hagler and Mrs. Ann Nesbit, of Salisbury, and ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was 79 years of age and a member of Calvary Methodist church. Mrs. Wofford was well known in the city and had a host of friends in both the city and the county.
