Samuel A. Weddington [died Wednesday, December 14, 1932]
 
One of the few remaining Confederate veterans in Mecklenburg county, Samuel A. 
Weddington, died at his home in the county yesterday morning.  He was 87 years 
and ten months old.
 
Funeral services will be held at Sugaw Creek Presbyterian church this 
afternoon at 2:30 by the pastor, Rev. L. P. Burney.  Burial will be in the 
church cemetery.
 
Mr. Weddington was a member of Mecklenburg camp, United Confederate Veterans 
and attended the meetings regularly until he was taken ill.  He is survived by 
one daughter, Mrs. Nettie Jordan, six grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren.
