MECKLENBURG COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Joe R. Young, 1 Jul 2005

CHARLOTTE - Joe R. Young, 74, died Friday, July 1, 2005 at CMC-Mercy Hospital.
A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late John B. and Louise S.
Young. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Military Police and retired from
Roadway Express as office manager. He was a member of First Baptist Church of
Charlotte and a volunteer at Mercy Hospital.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jeanne M. Young; a daughter, Janet
Jennings and her husband, Gary, of Austin, Tx.; and two sons, Dr. Jon Young
and his wife paula, of Fayetteville, NC and Jaysen Young of Austin, Tx.; two
brothers, Jack Young of Marion, NC and Jerry Young of New York City, NY, as
well as four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 5 in the Hankins &
Whittington Dilworth Chapel with the Reverend Michael Cummings and the
Reverend Paul T. Brock officiating. The family received friends at the funeral
home following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the
Congregational Health Ministry, First Baptist Church, PO Box 31046, Charlotte,
NC 28231.
