An Outwitted Father Declares Vengeance Against a Register of Deeds

Mr. E.O. Johnston, court crier, is to bring suit against the register of deeds 
of Lincoln county for issuing the license which resulted in the marriage of 
his daughter, Amanda M. Johnston to Mr. John D. Rossich. The young lady is 
only 16 years old and Mr. Johnston had been opposed to the match. He had 
notified Mr. J.W. Cobb, register of deeds of Mecklenburg county not to issue 
the license. While Mr. Johnston was on duty at the Criminal Court here, Mr. 
Rossich and Miss Johnston went to Lincoln county and were married. Mr. 
Johnston says the register of deeds of that county violated the law and will 
be made to stand a suit in the courts.
