Williams willy1850@centurytel.net ==================================================================== Will of Bartholomew Haynes - Mecklenburg County, NC Will Book D p 8 In the Name of God Amen I Bartholomew Haynes of the County of Mecklenburg and State of North Carolina being in a declining weak state of body but of sound and perfect mind and Memory Blessed be God do this Twenty second day of May in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifteen make and publish this my last Will and Testament In Manner following that is to say - First I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Sarah Haynes the Plantation whereon I now live with all the appurtenances belonging there to with the household and kitchen furniture during her natural life for the purpose of keeping the family together and raising them in a decent manner and I also allow her two work Horses with farming utensials & sufficient (?) on the farm and I also allow her my stock of Cows and Hogs and two ewes and lambs for the use of the family and at the decease of my Wife Sarah Haynes I allow my plantation to be sold with the other property and to be Equally divid amongst my Children and I allow my stock of sheep all except two ewes and lambs to be sold also two young horse beasts and other property such as lumber and such articles as can be conveniently spared - (page 2) from the family to be sold for the purpose of Discharging my Just Debts And I also allow my eldest daughter Polly Haynes one feather Bed and furniture and one spinning wheel and one side Saddle And I also allow my daughter Peggy Haynes one feather bed and furniture and one spinning wheel and one loom and tacklings And I also allow my daughter Sally Haynes one feather Bed and furniture and one spinning wheel And I also allow my Daughter Matilda Haynes one feather bed and furniture And I allow the balance of bedding to be Equally devided between my two youngest daughters Betsy J. C. Haynes and Violate (?) Haynes and I allow my two sons James Haynes and David C. Haynes to be set to trades which I leave discrectionary with my Executors their trade and time of going to it - after the decease of my wife Sarah Haynes I allow my Negro boy Stepton (?) to be hired out yearly (?) until the legatees become of age and then to be sold and the Price of sd Negro and the profits of his hireing to be equally divided amongst my Children - And I hereby make and ordain my worthy friends Joseph Haynes and Moses Green Executors of this my last Will and Testament in witness Whereof I the said Bartholomew Haynes have to this my last Will and (page 3) Testament In witness set my hand and seal the day and year above written - Barthw Haynes (Seal) Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Bartholomew Haynes the Testator as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who were present at the time of Signing and Sealing thereof Wm McKinley Wm Gilmar her Margaret X Green mark
