Apr. 4, 1828; d. Mar. 10, 1906; marriage bond dated Jul. 15, 1857 to John Middleton Lawing, son of William A. and Jane Waddell Lawing) Mecklenburg County Will Book O, p. 558: In the name of God Amen. Be it known that I, Violet I, Lawing, being of sound and dispasing(?) mind but conscious of the uncertainty of life do make and publish this as my last will and testament. (1) I give and bequeath unto my son James L. Lawing all of lot No. 1 containing twenty acres of land as shown on the annexed plot made by Jno. C. Fite Feb. 17th 1888 with the following boundaries. Beginning at a maple on a branch of D. F. Dunn's line and runs N 86 E 27 poles to a stone thence S 28 E 70 poles to a stone thence S 76 W 65 poles to a stone thence N 5 E 74 poles to the beginning. (2) I give and bequeath unto my daughter N. D. Dunn, wife of R. W. Dunn, all of lot No. 2 containing twenty acres as shown on said plot with the following boundary. Beginning at a stone the second corner of lot No. 1 and runs N 86 E111 poles to a stone thence S 17 3/4 E 27 poles to a stone thence S 82 W 104 poles to a stone on the lone of lot No. 1 thence with said line N 28 W 38 to the beginning. (3) I give and bequeath to my daughter E. M. Lawing, wife of S. M. Lawing, all of lot No. 3 containing twenty acres as shown on said plot with the following boundary. Beginning at a stone on the second line of lot No. 1 and runs N 82 E 104 poles to a stone thence S 17 3/4 E 25 poles to a stone (hickory gone) thence S 78 W 98 poles to a stone thence with a lone of lot No.1 N 28 W 35 poles to the beginning.
