MITCHELL COUNTY

GOUGES CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY

LOCATION: This cemetery is accessible from either Hanging Rock Road 
(Avery Co.) or Gouges Creek Road (Mitchell Co.). This is the same road, 
the names change with the counties. Take either road entrance from 19-E 
and in four or five miles you will see the church and the cemetery behind 
it. It is just inside Mitchell County.

ACCESSIBILITY:   The (paved) road into this valley is steep and twisty 
from either entrance. But once there, you can park at the gate.

CONDITION: A new cemetery; excellent. Thee are very large spaces between 
groups of graves.

SURNAMES: HONEYCUTT, McCLELLAN, McGUIRE, McKINNEY, THOMAS,
          TRIVETTE, WOODY.
