MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - CEMETERIES - Hughes Cemetery On Byrd Creek

LOCATION: From the mouth of Pigeon Roost Creek (junction with SR 197), drive 
1.2 miles, turn left onto Byrd Creek Road.  Drive 0.5 miles, turn left at Dog 
Flat Hollow.  Follow the signs to Hughes (and White Pine) Cemeteries.  At the 
end of the road you will find a “T” branch; turn right into the grass road.

CONDITION: Good to excellent

ACCESSIBILITY: Difficult; the road to the cemetery is narrow, grassed over, 
with a very steep bank on the left.  Also, turning around at the cemetery is 
quite difficult.  Use caution!
