BOB BENNETT SR. 

BAKERSVILLE - Bob Bennett Sr., 85, of the Pigeon Roost community, died 
Saturday, April 5, 2008 at his home. He was the son of the late Eason and 
Martha McCurry Bennett. He was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Bennett 
Jr.; and six brothers, Roscoe, Richard, Frank, Charles, Sid, and Dewey 
Bennett. He was a member of Upper Pigeon Roost Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Versie Barnett Bennett; one granddaughter, Peggy 
Evans of Pigeon Roost; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and 
nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Yancey Funeral 
Services. The Revs. Marvin Miller and Marvin Silvers officiated. Graveside 
services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bennett Cemetery at Pigeon Roost. 
The family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the 
funeral home.
