CLYDE F. BRINKLEY 

BAKERSVILLE - Clyde F. Brinkley, 94, of Spring Creek Church Road, died 
Wednesday, April 19, 2006. He was the son of Gus and Dora Garland Brinkley, and 
husband of the late Julia Lim Brinkley. He was also preceded in death by one 
sister, Marie Garland. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Pearl Harbor, where he was 
a certified naval diver. A retired millwright construction superintendent, he 
was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church and Bakersville Masonic Lodge #357 
AF&AM

Survivors include one son, Wayne G. Brinkley of Bakersville; a sister, Mildred 
Norris of Elizabethton, TN; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Spring Creek Baptist Church. 
Rev. Bob McCurry officiated. Graveside services, conducted by Bakersville 
Masonic Lodge #357 AF&AM, followed in Garland Parker Cemetery on Blevins Branch 
Road. The family received friends from 2 p.m. until the service hour at the 
church. Memorial donations may be made to Gideons International, Mitchell 
County Camp, P.O. Box 611, Spruce Pine, NC 28777. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home 
in Bakersville was in charge of arrangements.
