FATE ANDERSON BUCHANAN 

BAKERSVILLE - Fate Anderson Buchanan, 86, of Bear Creek Road, died Saturday, 
Jan. 14, 2006 at his home. He was the son of the late Doss and Nellie Stewart 
Buchanan, and husband of the late Emma Lee Sparks Buchanan. He was also 
preceded in death by a sister, Glennie Hollifield. A member of Bear Creek 
Baptist Church, he was a U.S. Army veteran and the retired owner and operator 
of Buck's Trim Shop in Spruce Pine.

Survivors include two sons, Barry Buchanan of Mooresville, and Randy Buchanan 
of Swannanoa; five grandchildren; and one great grandson. 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bear Creek Baptist Church. Revs. 
Chris Rathbone and Howard Buchanan officiated. Burial followed in the church 
cemetery. The family received friends from 2 p.m. until the service hour at the 
church. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 
38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
