ROBERT JACK BUCHANAN 

BAKERSVILLE - Robert Jack Buchanan, 80, of Snow Hill Road, died Thursday, Jan. 
29, 2008 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine. He was the son of the 
late Jeff and Mae Cox Buchanan. He was also preceded in death by a son, Joel 
Matthew Buchanan. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a former 
member of Pine Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Etta Whitson Buchanan of the home; sons, Bobby, 
Greg and Mark Buchanan, all of Bakersville, and Dean Buchanan of Tipton Hill; 
sisters, Augusta Gross of Spruce Pine, and Elizabeth Burleson of Morganton; 
brothers, Jay Buchanan of Bakersville, and Jason Buchanan of Newland; and 
three grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. The Revs. Clyde Thomas, Alan Laws, and Matthew 
Grindstaff officiated. Burial followed in Whitson-Garland Cemetery on Beans 
Creek Road. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral 
home.
