HUBERT BUCHANAN 

SPRUCE PINE - Hubert Buchanan, 77, of Dula Road, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 
at his home. He was the son of the late Ed Buchanan Sr. and Myrtle Sparks 
Buchanan. He was retired from Henredon Furniture of Spruce Pine, and was a 
U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Hoyle Buchanan of the home; daughters, 
Joretta Thomas of Newland, and Janice Huskins and Sharon Silvers, both of 
Spruce Pine; a son, Gary Hoyle of Spruce Pine; brothers, Ed Buchanan Jr. of 
Marion, and Sam Buchanan of Old Fort; eight grandchildren; and eight great-
grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. The Revs. Ken Anderson and Harold 
Dellinger officiated. Graveside services and burial were held at 11 a.m. 
Friday in Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends 
from 10 p.m. until the service hour Thursday at the funeral home.
