FRANCIS LILLIAN BUCHANAN 
 
NEWLAND - Francis Lillian Buchanan, 80, of Roaring Creek, died Sunday, May 20, 
2007 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late 
Walter and Julie Butler Jones. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, 
Ed and Jesse Jones; and a sister, Emma McGunnis. She attended The Peoples 
Church of Roaring Creek. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Survivors include her husband, Coy Buchanan of the home; daughters, Barbara 
Miller, Helen Aldridge, and Sue Heaton, all of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; sons, 
Junior Buchanan of Newland, and Timmy Buchanan of Roan Mountain; brothers, 
Frank and Ira Jones, both of Roan Mountain, and Elmer Jones of Johnson City, 
Tenn.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and 
nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel 
of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Burial was in Lower Roaring Creek 
Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour 
Tuesday at the funeral home.
