BRUCE WILLIAM BUCHANAN 

HILDEBRAN - Bruce William Buchanan, 76, died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at College 
Pines Nursing Center. Born in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Lynn 
Buchanan and Hattie McClurd Buchanan. He was also preceded in death by four 
brothers, Ralph, Millard, Robert and Tarp Buchanan. He had been employed by 
Maulding Vending Company (Tom's Peanut Company), and was part owner and 
operator of B&M Hardware in Connelly Springs. He was a member of Abee's Chapel 
Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir, assistant choir director, 
and an adult Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel Shell Buchanan of the home; one daughter, 
Revonda Yarborough of Valdese; three sons, Tim Buchanan of Reeds, Mo., and 
Rev. Dewayne Buchanan and Richard Buchanan, both of Connelly Springs; two 
brothers, A. Denver Buchanan of Rutherford College, and Henry Buchanan of 
Connelly Springs; four sisters, Maggie Butler of Valdese, Edna Gilliland and 
Lillian Burleson, both of Connelly Springs, and Gail Wise of Hickory; nine 
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and 
step-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Abee's Chapel Baptist 
Church. The Revs. Buddy Sizemore and Dewayne Buchanan officiated. Burial 
followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 
the service hour Tuesday at the church. Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese 
assisted the family.
