DAVID LOWELL BUCHANAN 

BAKERSVILLE - David Lowell Buchanan, 72, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007. He was 
the son of the late Stokes and Pearl Silver Buchanan. He was also preceded in 
death by two brothers, John and Sherwin Buchanan. He was a U.S. Marine veteran 
of the Korean War, and was a member and Past Master of the Bakersville Masonic 
Lodge #357 and Past Patron of Roan Mountain Chapter 29 Order of the Eastern 
Star. He was a deacon and trustee of Kona Missionary Baptist Church. A 
construction superintendent, he operated amateur radio station KM4GF.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Aldridge Buchanan of the home; a son, 
Ernest Buchanan of the home; two daughters, Nena Sullins and Wanda Biddix, 
both of Spruce Pine; one sister, Elberta Wing of Kernersville; one brother, 
Stuart Buchanan of Double Island; four grandchildren; and one great-
granddaughter. 

Funeral services were officiated by the Rev. Steve Williams. Graveside rites 
were in Kona Baptist Church Cemetery by Bakersville Masonic Lodge #357 AF&AM. 
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, 
Spruce Pine, NC 28777; or Bakersville Masonic Lodge #357, Bakersville, NC 
28705.
