SHERWIN G. BUCHANAN 

BAKERSVILLE - Sherwin G. Buchanan, 82, of NC Highway 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 
14, 2005. He was the son of the late Stokes and Pearl Silver Buchanan. He was 
also preceded in death by one brother, John Buchanan. He was a U.S. Navy 
veteran and retired from Blythe Brothers Construction in Charlotte. He was a 
member and trustee of Silver Chapel Baptist Church, and a member of Masonic 
Lodge #12 of Latham, GA.

Survivors include his wife, Elberta Buchanan of the home; daughters, Jeanette 
Chang of Bakersville, Loretta Revis of Waynesville, and Norma Helms of Spruce 
Pine; one sister, Elberta Wing of Burnsville; two brothers, Stuart Buchanan of 
Burnsville, and Lowell Buchanan of Bakersville; and five grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Silver Chapel Baptist Church. 
Revs. Mark McKinney, Jonathan Thacker and Howard Buchanan officiated. Graveside 
services were conducted at the church cemetery by Bakersville Masonic Lodge 
#357 AF&AM. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. at Henline-Hughes Funeral 
Home in Bakersville. Memorial donations may be made to Rathbun Wellness Center, 
121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803; or Baptist Childrens Home of North 
Caroina, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361.
