BAKERSVILLE - Paul Burleson, 75, of Mine Creek Road, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005
at Spruce Pine Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Jesse and Venie
Grindstaff Burleson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Keith Burleson;
sisters, Mae Robinson, Ellen Howell, Ruth Grindstaff and Jennie Buchanan; and
a brother, John Burleson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Silver
Chapel Bapist Church. He was retired from Henredon Furniture and worked for
the Mitchell County Recycling Center.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Elizabeth Burleson of the home; sons, Eddie
Burleson and Tommy Duncan, both of Bakersville; daughters, Kim Griffith of
Green Mountain, and Dorsy Miller of Hot Springs, AR; brothers, Frank Burleson
of Bakersville, and James Burleson of Williamston, GA; sisters, Elberta
Buchanan of Bakersville; and Edith Wyke and Mary Hughes, both of Burnsville;
11 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Silver Chapel Baptist
Church. Revs. Jonathan Thacker, Gerald Grindstaff and J.J. Orr officiated.
Burial was at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church cemetery. The family received
friends from 7 p.m. until the service hour at the church. Memorial donations
may be made to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777;
or to Gideon International, Mitchell County Camp, P.O. Box 611, Spruce Pine,
NC 28777. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville was in charge of
arrangments.
