ORA BELLE DAVIS BYRD 
 
SPRUCE PINE - Ora Belle Davis Byrd, 93, of the Altapass community, died 
Wednesday, April 11, 2007. She was the daughter of the late Bob and Alice 
Johnson Davis, and wife of the late Sam Byrd. She was also preceded in death 
by a brother, Arlie Davis, and a sister, Ruth Robertson. She was a member of 
Altapass Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Bobby Byrd of Estatoe, and Charles and Ronnie 
Byrd, both of the Altapass community; one sister, Catherine Peterson of Erwin, 
Tenn.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-
grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Altapass Baptist Church. The 
Revs. Steve Sisk and David Wiseman officiated. Burial followed in McKinney Gap 
Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Webb Funeral 
Home in Spruce Pine. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mitchell 
County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
