MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - DeFord Bailey, 14 Oct 2004

BAKERSVILLE, N.C. -- DeFord Bailey, age 72, of Beans Creek Road, 
Bakersville, N.C., died Oct. 14, 2004, at Johnson City Medical Center. 

He was the son of the late John and Pansy Canipe Bailey, and a native of 
Mitchell County, N.C. He was a veteran of the United States military. 

He was the husband of Betty Ann Bailey. 

Survivors include sons, Ronnie and Wayne Bailey, both of Bakersville, 
N.C.; sisters, Pearl Reed, of Marion, N.C.; Lillian Ledford, of Bakersville, 
and Linda Buchanan, of Hickory, N.C.; brothers, Roy Bailey, of Nashville; 
Robert Bailey, of Crossnore, N.C., Johnny Bailey, of Bakersville, N.C., 
and Rex Bailey, of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a host of 
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Bartlett and 
Hettie Vance. 

The family received friends Saturday, Oct. 16, from 6-8 p.m. at Henline-
Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, Oct. 17, at 2 
p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, with Ronnie Gouge, G.B. Garland and Spivey 
Pendland officiating. Interment will be at Bailey Cemetery. Flowers are 
accepted or memorials may be made to National Emphysema Foundation, 15 
Belden Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06850. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home is in charge
