JOHN EDISON BALLARD 

SPRUCE PINE – John Edison Ballard, 71, of the Altapass community, died Monday, 
April 30, 2001 at his home. He was the son of the late Hardy and Effie Lowery 
Ballard. A member of Altapass Church of God, he was a veteran of the U.S. 
Navy.
Survivors include his sister, JoAnn Riddle of Morganton; nephews, Dewayne 
Riddle and Kevin Riddle; and two great nephews. 
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Altapass Church of God. 
Rev. Ron Leasure officiated. Burial was in McKinney Gap Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine.
