MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Gertrude Hughes Barnett, 27 Mar 2004

GREEN MOUNTAIN - Gertrude Hughes Barnett, 98, of Pigeon Roost Creek 
Road, died Saturday, Mar. 27, 2004 in Ausbury Center in Johnson City, 
TN. She was the daughter of the late Dove and Myra Ray Hughes, and wife 
of the late Garther Dewey Barnett. She was also preceded in death by sons, 
Kelse, Ralph and Jim Barnett.

Survivors include three daughters, Lassie Laws, Dora Laws and Doris Estep, 
all of Johnson City; six sons, Lawrence, Doyle and Clyde Barnett of Johnson 
City, Zeke Barnett of Green Mountain, Glenn Barnett of Hampton, TN, and 
Bobby Barnett of Butler, TN; two sisters, Edith Miller and Elva Hughes, 
both of Spruce Pine; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and 
great great grandchildren. 
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was 
at 11 a.m. Tuesday at White Pine Cemetery.
