She was the daughter of the late Fornum Gordon and Rosa Thomas Jarrett, and wife of the late Taft Burnette and the late Jeter Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Fred Jarrett; and three sisters, Ora Young, Beulah Phillips Davenport, and Alma Jarrett Greene. She was a member of Rebels Creek Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and choir member, and was involved in the Community Outreach Program. She also sang with the Rebelaires Quartet. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Sue Hughes of Forest City and Rosalie Silver of Bakersville; two sons, Roger Phillip Burnette of Chesnee, SC and David Keith Burnette of Trinity; one brother, Dan Jarrett of Bakersville; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rebels Creek Baptist Church. Revs. Wallace Wise and Gerald Grindstaff officiated. Burial was in Rebels Creek Cemetery. The family received friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine.
