THEO CLARENCE BUCHANAN 

BAKERSVILLE–Theo Clarence Buchanan, 78, died on June 21, 2001 in the Spruce 
Pine Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Wallace Buchanan and 
Carrie Elliott. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie Mac Ward 
Buchanan; two sisters, Elsie and Myrtle Buchana; and three brothers, Carl, 
Arnold, and Lester Buchanan. 

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Buchanan; five sons, Theo Buchanan Jr. of 
Marion, Roy M. Buchanan of Marion, Randy A. Buchanan of Virginia, Michael A. 
Buchanan of Bakersville, and David L. Ledford of Bakersville; two brothers, 
Fred Buchanan and Leonard Buchanan, both of Marion; and ten grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 23 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cane Creek 
Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was at the Cane Creek Cemetery. Memorials may 
be made at Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
