MYRTLE S. BUCHANAN

BAKERSVILLE – Myrtle Slagle Buchanan, 89, of Roan View Drive, died Saturday, 
November 24, 2001 at Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the daughter of 
the late John and Hattie Whitson Slagle, and wife of the late Sam J. Buchanan. 
She was a homemaker and member of McKinney Cove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Buchanan of Bakersville; a sister, Blanche 
Stanley of Bakersville; two granddaughters; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McKinney Cove Baptist Church. 
Revs. Phil Murdock, Don Ford and Russell McKinney officiated. Burial followed 
in Cane Creek Cemetery. The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday in 
the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville.
