JOSEPH DEWITT BUCHANAN

SPRUCE PINE – Joseph Dewitt Buchanan, 73, of Beaver Creek Road, died Saturday, December 1, 2001 in an Asheville hospital. He was the son of the late James Blaine and Dora Greene Buchanan. He was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church were he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher. A veteran of the Korean War, he was retired from Duke Power Company.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Buchanan of the home; two sons, Brooks Buchanan of Spruce Pine and Keith Buchanan of Marietta, GA; three daughters, Regina Reed of Johnson City, TN, Janet Hise of Arden and Kim Sparks of Hendersonville; a sister, Dot Hutchinson of Charlotte; and five grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to: Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, c/o Beaver Creek Baptist Church, Spruce Pine, NC 28777. Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine was in charge of arrangements.
