EFFIE WOODY BUCHANAN
SPRUCE PINE – Effie Woody Buchanan, 90, of Feldspar Street, died Friday, 
July 12, 2002 at Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the daughter of 
the late Barney and Alice York Woody. She was a member of Liberty Hill 
Baptist Church and a retired employee of Ellen’s Knitting Mill.
Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Hoilman of Spruce Pine; one son, 
W.R. Buchanan of Spruce Pine; four grandchildren; and four great 
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Harold Grindstaff 
officiated. Burial was at 2 p.m. Sunday in Liberty Hill Cemetery. The 
family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Saturday.
