DOROTHY L. BUCHANAN

BAKERSVILLE - Dorothy L. Buchanan, 71, of Highway 80, died Tuesday, 
May 20, 2003 at Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the daughter 
of the late Fred and Mamie Young Greene. She was also preceded in 
death by a sister, Charlene Canipe; and two brothers, Royce and Wade 
Greene. A member of Mine Creek Baptist Church, she was retired from 
Baxter Healthcare.
Survivors include her husband, Bill J. Buchanan of the home; one 
daughter, Diane Buchanan of the home; three sons, Rodney, Charles 
and Randy Buchanan, all of Bakersville; one sister, Jean Croy of 
Johnson City, TN; one brother, Phil Greene of Dysartsville; five 
grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral serviceswere held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mine Creek Baptist 
Church. Revs. Wade Boone, Clifford Early and Mark McKinney officiated. 
Burial was in Mine Creek Cemetery. The family received friends from 
7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in 
Bakersville. Memorial donations may be made to the Lewis Rathburn 
Wellness Center, Asheville, NC 28801.
