LIZZIE BUCHANAN

SPRUCE PINE - Lizzie Buchanan, 94, of Elm Street, died Friday, Aug. 1, 
2003 at Mission St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville. She was the daughter 
of the late Dock French and Sallie Norman Duncan, and wife of the late 
Green A. Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by one son, Arthur 
Buchanan; and two sisters, Mamie D. Stewart and Sylvia D. Buchanan. She 
was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School.
Survivors include two daughters, Dortha Whitson of Marion, and Linda 
Trivette of Spruce Pine; three sons, Howard Irah Buchananof Morristown, 
TN, Donald A. Buchanan of Spruce Pine, and Albert Buchanan of Shelby; one 
brother, Charles William (Bill) Duncan of Gastonia; 10 grandchildren; 12 
great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bear Creek Baptist Church. 
Revs. Chris Rathbone, Brandon Pittman, Steve Williams and John Chick 
officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received 
friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral 
Home in Bakersvill
