MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Robert Buchanan, 11 Feb 2004

SPRUCE PINE - Robert Buchanan, 87, of Brushy Creek Road, died 
Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 in a Linville hospital. He was the son 
of the late Brown and Missouri Aldridge Buchanan, and husband of 
the late Judy Johnson Buchanan. He was also preceded in death by 
a daughter, Helen Hughes; a son, Robert Junior Buchanan; and two 
granddaughters. He was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Burse Buchanan of the home; 
daughters, Etta Jones and Diane Buchanan, both of Morganton, and 
Glinda Lewis of Newland; sons, David and Milton Buchanan, both of 
Bakersville; 21 grandchildren; and 54 great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Friday in the Grindstaff 
Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. Rufus 
Biddix and Gerald Grindstaff officiated. Burial was in Ashley 
Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service 
hour Friday at the funeral home.
