MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Robert Arthur "Bob" Bechtold, 31 May 2004

LITTLE SWITZERLAND - Robert Arthur "Bob" Bechtold, 82, of McKinney 
Mine Road, died Monday, May 31, 2004 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. 
He was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Bechtold. He was a U.S. 
Marine Corps. veteran of WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Elvina Fish Bechtold; daughters, Roberta 
Willis of Chicago, IL and Betsy Jones of Arizona; sons, David Bechtold 
of Chicago, and Tom and Charles Bechtold, both of St. Petersburg, FL; 
sisters, Catherine Kennon and Mary Thierof, both of Pittsburg, PA; and six grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 10 p.m. Friday at St. Lucien Catholic Church 
in Spruce Pine. Father Christopher Gober officiated. Burial was in Spruce 
Pine Memorial Cemetery. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m. Thursday at 
Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine.
