He was the son of the late Charlie P. and Nora McCourry Boone. He was preceded in death by a sister, Pansy Tipton; and three brothers, Joe, George and Roy Boone. A member of Lily Branch Church, he was retired from Feldspar, and later a self employed as a welder and mechanic. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Young Bone; a daughter, Shelley Myers of Spruce Pine; sons, Jerry Boone of North Wilkesboro, Larry Boone of Rochester, NH, and Tommy Boone of Black Mountain; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce pine. Revs. Garry Baker and Steve Williams officiated. Burial was in Lily Branch Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.
