PAULINE BURLESON

BAKERSVILLE – Pauline Burleson, 69, of Duncan Drive, died Thursday, May 24, 
2001 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Fred 
Duncan, and Lucy Smith Duncan of Bakersville. She was a member of Bear Creek 
Baptist Church.  In addition to her mother, survivors include her daughters, 
Cindy McKinney of Bakersville and Rita Thomason of Burnsville; a son, Charles 
Reed Burleson of Bakersville; sisters, Jean Hollifield of Bakersville, and 
Norene McKinney of Spruce Pine; seven grandchildren; and three great 
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bear Creek Baptist Church. 
Revs. Max Holland, Howard Buchanan and R.M. Cassity officiated. Burial was in 
the church cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until the service 
hour on Saturday at the church. Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine was in charge 
of arrangements.
