MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Landon "Cotton" Burleson, 7 Feb 2004

SPRUCE PINE - Landon "Cotton" Burleson, 85, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 
2004. He was the son of Asa and Judy Green Burleson. He was also 
preceded in death by brothers, Hobert, James, Gaylon (Shorty), Ed 
and Harry Burleson; one sister, Grace Gunter; one son, Melvin 
Douglas Burleson; and one great grandson. A veteran of WWII, he 
was a musician in his younger days and held various jobs before 
retiring.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Pittman of the home; a son, Dan 
Burleson of Raleigh; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. Jim White and Bret 
Price officiated. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemtery. The family 
received friends from 5 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral 
home.
